As we move deeper into the rhythm of summer,
it’s the perfect time to reset, realign, and reconnect—with your body, your mind, and your spirit. At Atmos, we’re inviting our members to join a communal experience of intentional wellness: a flexible, supportive, judgment-free fast—rooted in ancient wisdom, modern science, and a shared desire to thrive.
Inspired by our Freeze, Fit, Fast & Flourish guide, this season offers us a chance to explore fasting not just as deprivation—but as a feast for the soul.
What We’re Inviting You Into
Starting Sunday, July 27, Atmos members are invited to participate in a community-supported fast. There are two expressions:
1. Water-Only Fast (or modified food fast) – For as short or long as you feel called.
2. Alcohol Fast – A month-long break from July 20–August 17.
You can participate in one, both, or neither—whatever aligns with your season. If you’re celebrating life right now with a great bottle of wine and a vibrant summer plate, we celebrate that with you. This is not about pressure or performance. It’s about the invitation to pause, recalibrate, and grow.
Why Fast?
Physical & Mental Clarity
– Water fasting (even short-term) can support insulin sensitivity, cellular renewal (autophagy), and reduce inflammation.
– Many report heightened clarity, a sense of emotional calm, and even improved mood after initial days.
Spiritual Focus
– As Dallas Willard put it, fasting teaches us that we are sustained by God, not just food.
– Richard Foster reminds us: “Fasting is feasting on the Lord.”
– The early church viewed fasting as a sacred reset—training the soul through humility, prayer, and presence.
Community & Reflection
– There’s something sacred about fasting together. The shared experience builds empathy, insight, and connection.
– We’ll culminate with an Atmos Wellness Wednesday in August to share what we’ve learned and how we’ve grown.
What’s Next
– RSVP to Maura if you’re joining either fast (water, alcohol, or both) so we can add you to the optional messaging group for support and encouragement.
– Fast for a day, three, a week—or simply set a personal intention. No one’s keeping score.

Please check with your healthcare provider before beginning any fasting or dietary changes. Water-only fasts especially carry risks and should be approached thoughtfully. Extended fasts should be done with caution and proper refeeding.
